Road Trip! Driving Home After Lazy Bear

After several days in Guerneville, it was time to head back to Seattle.  We didn't get very far the first day.  We only made it about 20 miles away, to the wine country.   We spent the rest of the day and that night as Bob's guests at the Raymond Burr Vineyards.  Bob and the men that run the vineyards with him were the most gracious of hosts.  They had such great stories to share about their times in Hollywood starting in the late 50's, Bob's travels with Raymond, and all that has happened since.

The next day we actually drove back through Guerneville and headed to California Hiway 1, right along the coast.  We stopped many places along the way, including an old Russian Fort from the otter fur trading days.  We spent the next night at a roadside park/camping area.  The night was cool and bright with the full moon, so we played tag with the breakers as they rolled in and out on the wide, sandy beach.

In morning, I cooked breakfast and we headed north.  We stopped at the Trees of Mystery and few miles later took a skinny dip and bath in the river.

Overlooking the "grape farm" aka the "wine ranch".  We just aren't classy enough to call it a "vineyard".

Barry and Bob have been friends for a long time. Jack and I just met him at Lazy Bear.

Raymond Burr bought this vineyard and gave it to Bob many years ago. Bob has managed it from the beginning.

We had a splendid time at the vineyard. Bob is a gracious host. Our overnight stay there was a great way to end our week at Lazy Bear and start our road trip back north.

We came north on California Hiway 1.  A slow and twisty road right on the coast.  Frequently the road is carved out of a cliff.

We stopped many places along the way.  I don't recall the name of this beach.

Barry moved to Palm Springs in November 2001.

Jack drove about 95% of trip up and down the coast.  He likes it that way.

Barry is a good friend I have known since 1983.

Being tourist, of course we stopped at the Trees of Mystery.
