Road Trip! Driving Home After Lazy Bear

This is the last day of vacation.  The highlight of this day was taking this small hiway from the California coast up to Grants Pass, Oregon.  Along the way we had a fantastic swim in the river and  spent some time at the Oregon Caves, all while driving up mountains through spectacular forests.

We probably got to Interstate 5 around 4PM.  Once there, we put the pedal to the metal and we were back in Seattle late that night.   It was a great vacation and wonderful road trip.

Barry wondered if these could be source of the blueness for "Babe the Blue Ox"?  He didn't know it was because Babe was nearly frozen to death in the far north before Paul Bunyan saved him.

I've seen bumper stickers on logging trucks advertising the "Stumps of Mystery"

We were here early in the morning and didn't want to take the tour. Besides, if you've seen one tree you've seen 'em all.

Just south of the Oregon border, we headed east up a beautiful hiway that connected Grants Pass to the coast.

It was such a wonderful place and river was clear, slow moving and kind of warm. It was the perfect place for some skinny (or not-so-skinny in my case) dipping.

Even though Jack loves caves and caverns, we didn't go in. There was a 3 hour wait for next available tour.

We did have picnic lunch here and walked into some of the lesser caves

After this, we headed for Interstate 5 and drove through to Seattle.
