Friday afternoon, we took the subway down to the South Ferry station. Here is a sample of the tile work found in most every station. It is really beautiful, often ornate, and frequently neglected or hidden by dirt or new pipes. (Jack just freaked at the idea of taking a tourist picture in the subway!)

We were at South Ferry to catch the boat to Ellis Island. Me on the boat. Notice the snow. We couldn't find the pizza place I remember from my Coast Guard days back in 1971.

Jack on the boat with (I think) "Hillary Castle" in the background. This might be where immigrants were processed before Ellis Island was constructed.

Because we both had been to the Statue of Liberty in years gone by, we didn't want to stand in the cold to see it again. (There just isn't enough time to do everything.)

The cost of the boat ride and admission was about $7 each. It took about 20 minutes to get there (including the stop at the Statue of Liberty).

Jack in the Great Hall. This is on the 2nd level (as I recall.)   We were impressed by the brick floors.
